Yesterday's Metallica Show In Stockholm Cancelled

The Metallica show yesterday (March 8th) at Stockholm's Globe Arena was cancelled due to James Hetfield being rushed to the hospital. It is said that he suffered from food poisoning. At 8 PM (one hour before the planned show time) the three present Metallica members together with promoter Tor Nielsen from Live Nation Sweden went up on stage and told the fans the sad news. Lars Ulrich To Join Deep Purple Reunion?

Classic Rock Magazine reports that the legendary Mark III line-up of Deep Purple are planning a reunion. According to Classic Rock, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore are up for the reunion. However, since drummer Ian Paice is in the current Deep Purple line-up they need a drummer. This is where Lars Ulrich comes in. Lars says: “If they need a drummer, David Coverdale has my number.”
However, Jon Lord has made a posting on his own webpage where he says he can't see a reunion without Ian Paice.

I have now returned from Berlin where Metallica played their "Death Magnetic Release Party" gig last Friday. The show was (as always) really good. It felt a bit unusual to see them without any stage effects. This was especially noticed in "One" where we all have gotten used to the pyro effects. The stage was placed in the middle of the floor so everyone got a good view.

The best songs were Blackened and Until It Sleeps. You could easily tell that they were a bit unsecure while playing the new songs.

This was the first show ever at the newly built O2 Arena. The arena looked quite nice and since the stage was in the middle of the arena it felt rather intimate.

Yesterday (August 21st) Metallica received the "Inspiration Award" at the annual Kerrang Awards show. Lars Ulrich collected the price and said "There are so many people in this room that inspire us and keep us alive, so I just want to thank everyone for keeping METALLICA alive."

Metallica Will Be The First Band On Berlin's New O2 Arena

The official release party show in Berlin September 12th will be the first show ever at the newly-built O2 Arena. The venue holds 17 000 persons. The ticket income from the Metallica show will go to German Heartbeatcenter.
